William Dianthus

Why is my ‘Sweet William’ Dianthus dying?
I just purchased a Sweet William (Indian Carpet) from a very trust worthy nursery and now it is about 3 or 4 days later and it is wilted. Not the kind of wilted plants get when they don’t get enough water but it almost feels heavy. This plant is VERY big and does not have blooms on it yet. I’ve been watering it and planted it with Miracle Gro Potting Mix and I fertilized it. Please help! Where have I gone wrong??
sounds like plain overwatering to me. You should not plant perennials or shrubs in potting soil. Most potting soil comes with a lot of peat moss, which is designed to retain a lot of moisture. If you have been watering it frequently, the soil is holding on to the water too long and could be rotting the roots. Dig it up, dig your hole significantly wider, remove the potting soil, and replant it with compost (cotton burr is best). water it deeply only once or twice a week. You may have to cut it back a little, too, but it should bounce back.

William
$3.48 As the boy prince turns into the man who would be king, interest in Prince William is at an unprecedented height in 2003, the year of his twenty-first birthday. Seen as the vital link between the traditions of the Royal Family and the more populist, modern approach of his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, William has become an icon and pin-up as well as the future of the monarchy. This pictorial celebration features hundreds of photographs of William at work and at play by Tim Graham, the foremost photographer in this field. These beautiful photographs are accompanied by a unique insight into William's life by Peter Archer, the only journalist to interview the prince and be accredited to Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace.Elegant and revealing, William is not just a landmark in royal publishing but a beautiful celebration of this special year in the prince's life. |

William
$12.99 Prince William has inherited his mother's good looks and his father's intellect. Rich, handsome and charming, he is arguably the most eligible bachelor in the world. He is a pin-up and a role model. He is a dutiful son and grandson, a loving brother and friend. He is his mother's enduring legacy and his father's pride and joy. To the credit of his mother and father, William has been brought up in the real world. Although born into immense wealth and privilege, his humility is intact. Diana was determined that William would be the People's Prince; not only did she show him how the less fortunate, the homeless and the sick, live and suffer, but she also showed the young prince how to have fun and what it was like to have a 'normal' life. Balancing this, the Prince of Wales taught his son the importance of heritage and tradition. William was born to be king and Charles' strong sense of social justice and responsibility has helped fashion the way William sees the world. William celebrates what a truly remarkable young man the prince is. He has travelled much of the world, has been educated at Eton and St Andrews and has enjoyed great academic and sporting success. At the young age of 21, William is already an accomplished individual, measuring up to his early promise. He has lived through his parent's highly publicised marriage breakdown and a bitter divorce and the utter devastation, at the young age of fifteen, of his mother's untimely death. Yet, he has developed into the embodiment of modern royalty, equally at ease on a football terrace, on the polo field or greeting his many adoring fans on official visits around the country. This pictorial celebration features hundreds of photographs of William by Tim Graham, the foremost photographer in this field; these beautiful photographs are accompanied by a unique insight into William's life by Peter Archer, the only journalist to interview the prince and be accredited to Buckingham Palace and St James' |

William
$3.98 Prince William's sixteenth birthday, on June 21, 1998, heralded the end of childhood for this athletic and delightful young man. With his tremendous courage in the face of the dreadful tragedy of Princess Diana's untimely death, Prince William endeared himself to the whole world. With his newfound maturity and striking good looks, he has inherited his mother's easy charm and disarming smile. In this sensitive and beautifully illustrated biography, royal expert Nicholas Davies explores the complex character behind this monarch of the future. Davies follows Prince William from his birth at St. Mary's, Paddington, through his happy-go-lucky childhood and awkward pre-teenage years, to his burgeoning maturity. Packed with rare, color photographs, this is the definitive biography of Prince William, the man who will be Britain's king. |
