Japanese Black

dying my hair black before getting a Japanese straightening?
I have brown hair and I would like to dye it black, but I’m getting a Japanese straightening perm in a week or so.
Will dying my hair before getting the straightening ruin my hair?
or will dying it after ruin all the smoothness of the hair after getting the perm?
So dying it after getting it permed won’t damage it?
Oh and btw it’s supposed to look fake cause im dying it black-blue. ^ __ ^
No but you have to tell the person straightening your hair what day you dyed it so they can make alterations to kep your hair nice without over chemicaling it.

The Japanese Sword
$28.98 The Japanese sword combines unbreakability, rigidity, and lethal cutting power, and it is in the resolution of these conflicting practical requirements that it emerges as a triumph of the forger's art. The mystique of the sword lingers on in our age of mechanized combat, but the aesthetic qualities for which swords are most valued by collectors today-the liveliness of the metal "skin," the confidence in every aspect of the design, the scrolling temper-line, the almost buoyant lightness of the hilt when the blade is held in the hand-all derive from what the Japanese sword demanded as a symbol of strength and as a weapon. As an instrument of clear persuasion, no other blade anywhere has ever been its equal. This volume, containing color and black-and-white plates, has been prepared as an introduction to the history and appreciation of the Japanese sword. Its author, until his death in 1978, was one of Japan's foremost sword experts, and his wide knowledge is here brought to bear on every aspect of sword lore, including forging techniques and problems of appraisal. Looking over the 1,500 years of sword history in Japan, Kanzan Sato notes how the major developments-the shift from the early straight blades to the tachi, which were longer curved blades slung edge downwards at the waist, to the familiar daisho pair of short and long swords worn by samurai until modern times-were the result of both technical innovation and changed fighting techniques. He examines the various fashions in sword mounts and the at times precious, highly decorated work of the smiths who specialized in sword guards, or tsuba, during the Momoyama and Edo periods. The centerpiece of this book, however, is a detailed examination of over a dozen of Japan's most revered blades, including the Kanehira and the Dojigiri by Yasutsuna, perhaps the two finest swords in Japan and as clear and beautiful today as when they were forged some 900 years ago. The discussion of what makes these blades special and how they have been passed down for generations offers the reader a wealth of insight into the sword in Japan as heirloom and cultural treasure. |

Excerpt: CHAPTER III THE IMPERIAL FAMILY Mutsuhito, 1 Emperor of Japan, was the 121st of the Imperial line, which has reigned in unbroken succession throughout over twenty-five centuries. It is difficult to Sacred convey to the European mind an adequate Character of conception of the position which the Emperor Emperor. on the throne of Japan holds in the minds of his subjects or of the degree of reverential awe with which, in the present days of materialism, he continues to be invested, not only as the Vicegerent on earth of the gods in heaven, but as being, in virtue of his divine descent, a god incarnate who rules, guides and guards his people with the infallible wisdom and inexhaustible love that can only be possessed by one who has inherited the attributes of omnipotent and benevolent ancestors in heaven. We reverence our King and devout Roman Catholics implicitly accept the decrees of the Pope, but to the Japanese their Emperor is more than King and Pope combined. He is their heavenly father, present with them on earth to share in all their joys and sorrows, to whose guidance and support all they achieve is solely due. He rules over a Constitutional Empire with legislatures vested with very extensive powers, but his word and will are still law. Against neither has even a murmur of opposition ever been raised, and no matter what may be the political crisis, what the spirit or wishes of any section or of all the people, the Emperor has sti... |

Simplicity of Japanese Living.? Posthumous Titles. ? The Emperor's Birthday. Sunday, October 21,1888. This morning, in spite of a drenching rain, I attended service at the Japanese Congregational church near here, as steps had been taken to organize a class for me, and the pasto wanted me to come and meet my pupils. Although I could not understand a word of the service, I enjoyed it more than many meetings where English is spoken, for I sat where I could watjh the audience, and their intentness made up somewhat for my lack of understanding. It was an intelligent-looking congregation, made up largely of men, most of them young, though here and there a gray head could be seen among the black ones. The people seemed to be drawn from allclasses in society, although in this church there is a larger proportion of the official classes than in any other church in the city. It was most interesting to watch the audience during the sermon. All listened intently, and with more the look of students in a college lecture-room than of a congregation listening to a sermon. There was none of that air of polite boredom that we see so much of in American churches. Almost all the grown persons, both men and women, had Bibles, in which they verified carefully all references, and many had pencils and paper, with which they took notes. They were evidently in search of instruction rather than fine oratory or aesthetic gratification of any kind. The church was large and light and airy, with no attempt at ornament except the beautifully arranged flowers near the pulpit. The benches were exceedingly hard and uncomfortab... |

Sakuteiki: Visions of the Japanese Garden
$22.79 Written by a Japanese court noble nearly 1000 years ago, Sakuteiki, or Records of Garden Making, is the oldest known treatise on the art of Japanese garden design. Composed during the Heian period, this work delves into the culture and customs of ancient Japanese society, offering insight into the Japanese view not only of gardening, but also of living life. At a time when even the art of setting stones was seen as a spiritually significant and aesthetically powerful act, Sakuteiki serves as a metaphor for the Japanese way of life, powerfully illuminating the overall culture of ancient Japan.Along with ample technical advice on how to build a garden (much of which is still adhered to by traditional Japanese gardeners today) Sakuteiki reveals four unique visions of Heian-period gardens.Authors Marc P. Keane and Jiro Takei offer a clear and succinct translation, and through extensive annotations and introductory chapters, provide the knowledge required to understand the secrets held within this ancient text. With extensive black and white illustrations, detailed commentary, and a complete glossary, Sakuteiki invites readers into the world of ancient Japanese garden design, exploring the role of religious tradition, nature, and the use of spirituality in the construction of a Japanese garden. This wonderful and ancient text is sure to entertain and enlighten gardeners, scholars, and historians well into the next millennium. |

Inside Japanese Ceramics
$17.98 This practical and supremely useful manual is the first comprehensive, hands-on introduction to Japanese ceramics. The Japanese ceramics tradition is without compare in its technical and stylistic diversity, its expressive content, and the level of appreciation it enjoys, both in Japan and around the world. Inside Japanese Ceramics focuses on tools, materials, and procedures, and how all of these have influenced the way traditional Japanese ceramics look and feel. A true primer, it concentrates on the basics: setting up a workshop, pot-forming techniques, decoration, glazes, and kilns and firing. It introduces the major methods and styles that are taught in most Japanese workshops, including several representative and well-known wares: Bizen, Mino, Karatsu, Hagi, and Kyoto. While presenting the time-tested techniques of the tradition, author Richard L. Wilson also accommodates modern technologies and materials as appropriate. Wilson has gathered a wealth of information on two frontsâ??as a researcher of Japanese pottery and art history, and as a potter who has studied and worked for years with master Japanese potters. In his introduction, he provides a short history of Japanese ceramics, and in closing he looks beyond traditional methods toward ways in which Western potters can make Japanese methods their own. Richly illustrated with 24 color plates, over 100 black-and-white photographs, and over 70 instructive line-drawings, Inside Japanese Ceramics is indispensable for potters as well as connoisseurs and collectors of Japanese ceramics. Above all, it is an invitation to participateâ??to study, make, touch, and use the exquisite products of the Japanese ceramic tradition. |

$19.72 This practical and supremely useful manual is the first comprehensive, hands-on introduction to Japanese ceramics. Wilson has gathered a wealth of information on two fronts—as a researcher of Japanese pottery and art history, and as a potter who has studied and worked for years with master Japanese potters. Above all, it is an invitation to participate—to study, make, touch, and use the exquisite products of the Japanese ceramic tradition. |

The Modern Japanese Tea Room
$34.98 The Modern Japanese Tea Room showcases chashitsus, traditional Japanese tea ceremony salons, as reconceived by contemporary architects and designers. The formal tea ceremony developed in the fifteenth century, and its ritual is closely defined, as is the space for it: traditionally, chashitsus include windows, an alcove (tokonoma) with flowers and painted parchment, bamboo beds (tatami), and a fireplace on the floor (ro); they do not include furniture, in part because they are spaces for meditation. More recently those traditions--as closely associated with the upper class as ""high tea"" is in England and its colonies--have been rediscovered by architects and designers as a perfect match for their contemporary work. The Modern Japanese Tea Room includes projects from renowned Japanese names including Kengo Kuma, Terunobu Fujimori, Shigeru Uchida, Arata Isozaki, Chitoshi Kihara, Yasujirou Aoki and Hisanobu Tsujimura. Their work in a wide variety of materials--paper, wood, plastic, aluminum, glass, concrete--represents the latest and most inspiring in Japanese architecture and interior design, from a tree house in Nagano to a portable space in black lacquer. The Modern Japanese Tea Room opens with an introduction to the history of the tea ceremony, identifying its physical elements and going over to the ceremony itself, and then moves on to more than 35 projects gathered together in 250 of Michael Freeman's powerful color images. A tribute to contemporary Japanese culture and a taste of its future. |

Traditional Japanese Arts And Culture
$28.98 Music, poetry, the visual arts, literature, and theater have played a vital part in Japanese society. But, although Japanese artists, musicians, actors, and authors have written much over the centuries about the creation, meaning, and appreciation of these various arts, most of these works are scattered among countless hard-to-find sources or make only a fleeting appearance in books devoted to other subjects. Compiled in this volume is a wealth of original material on Japanese arts and culture from the prehistoric era to the Meiji Restoration (1867). These carefully selected sources, including many translated here for the first time, are placed in their historical context and outfitted with brief commentaries, allowing the reader to make connections to larger concepts and values found in Japanese culture.Although the book focuses on the visual and literary arts, it contains material on topics not easily classified in Western categories, such as the martial and culinary arts, the art of tea, and flower arranging. More than 60 color and black and white illustrations enrich the collection and provide further insights into Japanese artistic and cultural values. Included as well are a bibliography of English-language and Japanese sources and an extensive list of suggested further readings.Traditional Japanese Arts and Culture offers an authentic look at the conceptual richness, diversity, and continuity of the Japanese cultural traditions. Rather than impose a thick layer of interpretation, this inspired and diverse collection allows the original writers and artists to speak directly to people in all areas of Japanese studies interested in what lies beneath the surface of Japanese arts and culture. |

The children of Israel, including the tribe of Manasseh (U. S. A.), were instructed in many things by the prophet Jeremiah who, according to Jeremiah 1:10, Ferrar Fenton's version, says: See! I have appointed you to-day over nations, and kingdoms; to pull up, and to break down, and to destroy, and to erase; as well as to build, and to plant. Jeremiah was born 675 B. C., so he witnessed the pulling up, breaking down, and erasing of the kingdom of Judah, the killing of the king's son, and taking prisoners of the remnant of the nation. About 581 B. C. Jeremiah started on the latter part of his divine commission of building and planting. Accompanied by the royal seed, Zedekiah's daughter, Tamar Tephi, and Baruch, his scribe, he started for Ireland. Ten different Irish histories record the fact that at this time a wonderful prophet arrived in Ireland who caused Baal worship to cease, married his ward (Zedekiah's daughter) to the then ruling king of Ireland, who also was of the seed of David through the Zarah branch, on condition that the king should found a school for prophets. This was built at Tara and for five hundred years the educated men of Europe came to Ireland to absorb wisdom and learning from this school founded by Jeremiah, and to-day in the Court of Justice in Dublin, in the position of honor, is the medallion of Jeremiah cut in enduring stone as a waymark of his former presence there.
